Their wide selection of applications, such as for example taking foreign products into individual cells, delivering cells to specific areas and selecting cells in microfluidic systems, are analyzed in this essay. New developments of OT for nanomechanical characterization of varied biological cells are discussed with regards to both their theoretical and experimental developments.
